Further Interviews

The Profiles of Healing - Further Interviews represent our continued commitment to share the stories of traditional shamans and medicine people by presenting them in this online format.

The Profiles of Healing - Further Interviews section was created to help conserve and promote the knowledge of traditional healers, shamans, and practitioners of complementary medicine. The archive historically began with a critically acclaimed ten-volume book series entitled, Profiles of Healing. The website is an extension of that body of work. It presents further information and reports about healers from all over the world. Here we include brief reports of practitioners who have not been presented in any of the books. The interviews were conducted by Bradford Keeney, Ph.D. Although research has proliferated on the indigenous use of medicinal plants, less attention has been given to the spiritual relationships that diverse cultural doctors have with their patients and nature. Shamans and healers are attuned to a spiritual landscape, a reality seldom seen, heard, or felt by western scientific vision. Rather than quietly dismiss spirituality as a therapeutic placebo or faith-based motivation, this archive invites respectful attention to the equality of diverse cultural-spiritual realities.
