effect of death caused by sickness,of which the duration of dying
is nine days,and the duration of sickness is 9 months, it is 9
years and the death occurs on Sakara month (sakara = the
seventh month). If the sickness starts on Sakara month, the duration
of dying will be eight days, the duration of sickness, eight months,
it makes eight years, the death is on Wiyanyana month.
If the sickness starts on Wiyanyana month, the duration
of dying will be 5 days, the duration of sickness will be 5 months,
it is 6 years and the death is on Namarupa (Namarupa =
month 8). If the sickness starts on Sadayatama (Sadayatama=
month 10), the duration of dying is 5 days, the duration of sickness
is 5 months and the death is on sparsa month (Sparsa= month 11).
If the sickness starts on Sparsa month, the duration of
dying is 6 days, the duration of sickness is 5 days, it is 8 years
and the death is on Wedana month. If the sickness starts
on Wedana month, the duration of dying is 2 days, the duration
of sickness is10 days, it is two months, 8 months, it is 8 years
and [2a] the death is on Tresna
(Tresna=month 1). If the sickness starts on Tresna month,
the duration is 10 days, the duration of sickness is 3 months,
it is four months, eight years, and the death is on Upadana
month, if the sickness starts on Upadana month, the duration
of dying is 9 days, the duration of sickness is 2 months, it is
9 years, the time limit is 9 years and the death is on Sparsa
month. If the sickness starts on Bhawa month, the duration
of sickness is one day, it is 8 months, the time limit is nine
years, the death is on Jati = month 8). If the sickness starts
in Jati month, the duration is 5 days, it is nine months, the
limit time is ten years and the death is on Janamerana
(Janamerana = month 5). If the sickness starts in Janamerana
month, the duration of sickness is two days, it is 9 months, the
death is in Awidya month, this is called Prathithi Samut
Pada , in month 6, it is called Awidya , in month 5,it
is called Janamerana , Month 4 Jati , month 3, Bhawa
, month 2, Upadana , month 1, Tresna , Saddha
is called Wedana . Destha month [2b] Is called Sparsa
, month 10 is called Sadayatana , month 9 Namarupa
, month 8 Wiyanyana , month 7 Sakara which is in
accordance with the first day of the full moon. This is due to
the influence of Prathithi ,working as the following, if
it is toward the full moon it is on day, 1,8,15,8,9,1. If it is
toward new moon it is on day 3, 13, 4, 15 the movement is backward.
Bhawa Upadana, Tresna, Wedana, Sparsa, Sadayatana , Namarupa,
Wiyanyana, Sakara, Awidya have been mentioned above and the
powder is used as medication. The sickness in which the patient's
sight is blank,and which occurs on Sunday is called Samaya
lake kabuyutan . The ingredients of the powder include: the
flower of tekta pumpkin, paspasan root, kasa
root, white rice,onion which are softly ground and diluted. If
the sickness starts on Monday, the blood circulation is not normal,
it means that the patient gets sick because of an appointment,
being cursed, the powder to be used as medicine consists of kasimbukan
(Paederia feotida L.) juice, ilalang (Imperata cylindria
L.) (a certain type of grass) root, [3a] Saccharum spontanium root,
onion and fennel to be drunk. If the sickness starts on Tuesday,
with the following indications: the patient is weak and has insomnia,
the powder consists of the flower of paspasan which is
soaked in water, and dropped into the eyes. If the patient's sickness
starts on Wednesday, with the indication of being weak, the patient's
strength is to be well examined. The powder to be used as medication
consists of the following ingredients: old pule (Alstonia scholaris
R. Br.) leaf, Aegle Marmelos Correa leaf, saw-dust of the
sandle-wood, this is to be applied on the patient's nape. If the
sickness starts on Thursday, the patient's breath is not normal,
the ears reverberate, the powder to be used as the medicine consists
of the water/juice of areca nut, onion which ,is to be dropped
on his/her eyes.if the sickness starts on Friday with such indication
as the pulse feels hot, the muscle throbs, cramped, this is called
antu ile, , the powder to be used consists of calilingan
leaf, cardamon, inggu , kemangi , onion, orange
juice, these are to be rubbed on the pain and the powder consists
of sampar wantu , dagisekal ,a slice of orange skin,
orange juice. If the sickness starts on Saturday, Upadana Pitre
ceremony is to be carried out, the reverbrated ears and the ears
producing liquid are called Semaya Pati , then [3b] The nyegjeg
tuwuh ceremony is to be carried out, the patient's nape is to
be sprayed with the flower of red wari , uwu flower
and red rice. The next ceremony uses sesayut ( a certain
type of offerings) consisting of red rice with grilled shrimp
and fruit which is put in front of the patient,and then the sesayut
is to be offered to the God by touching the patient's left ear
while the patient prays. If the pain starts on Umanis day
and reoccurs every year the patient suffers from liver. If the
pain starts on Paing day, Bhatara Wredi Sukilap (name of
deity), the behaviour, the ceremony and the temple are ruined,
if the patient is influenced by devils. The ceremony to be carried
out consists of a belang bungkem dog which has certain type of
hair colour, the dog is processed and reformed and accompanied
with sesayut consisting of red rice, grilled red chicken
and the sesayut is to be offered to the God on Pwon day.
If the sickness starts on Wage day, Bhatara Arerebu
(name of deity) , enjoys the world peace, if the sickness
starts on Keliwon day, there is a warning [4a] from the patient's
ancestor and Bhatara Manca Mrana (name of deity), the patient
is deeply wounded, his/her mind is not healthy, the ceremony to
be carried out consists of tatebasan ( a type of offerings)
containing rice in 5 colours, 5 types of fish, half grilled chicken
(the chicken of which the feathers have the mixture of 5 colours)
and sesayut (a certain type of offerings) containing fruits,
flowers and burnt incense stick with nice smell which is to be
placed on the body of the patient, and the ceremony is to be carried
out on a balai (a building). This is the prediction based on the
consideration of reminder 1, the start of the pain, the temple
gets ruined and leaked, the patient is to be dying soon, or he/she
can be cured soon, if his/her behaviour is considered to be proper,
the offerings to be offered should be sacred containing grilled
white chicken, grilled white rice, perfume, incense stick which
are to be placed on the patient. Remainder 2, the sickness is
caused by pemali (a bad spirit), the laziness and also
by the spirit of the ancestor, the offerings include [4b] sesayut with
cone shaped red rice, grilled red chicken. Remainder 3, the start
of the pain is caused by Bhuta Anggara (name of a bad
spirit), Bhuta Kadurga (name of a bad spirit), the house
yard becomes haunted, such a condition is called Kadurga Dewi
. Its ceremony consists of sesayut containing: grilled
green chicken, periuk parebon ( a certain type of pottery), various
types of flowers, penek and young betel leaf.with reminder
4, the start of the sickness, when the patient suffers from various
diseases., is called pati, it needs a long time to
stay healthy, the sickness often recurs, the disease is often
referred to as Durga Wiwil and Saya Pati , the ceremony
to be carried out includes sesayut containing black pottery
which is burnt and the ceremony of walik Sumpah is to be
carried out around the house. The sickness starts on Urukung
and is referred to as wound sickness, on Was and Maulu
, as Bai-bai Menuh which occurs in the stomach. If the
sickness starts on Umanis Wednesday , the promise from
the man's side is the cause of the sickness. If the sickness starts
on Pon Wednesday , the cause of the sickness is Kala
Graha (name of a bad spirit), which stays in a small
cemetery. If it starts on Wage Wednesday the cause is Kala
(name of a bad spirit), and this can be cured using
offering which is to be placed on the cross roads. If the sickness
starts on Keliwon wednesday [5a] Its cause is Dewa (Deity
)for which, the offerings are to be placed in Kamulan (certain
type of shrine in the family temple). On Umanis Thursday,
the sickness is hindered,on Paing Thursday the pain is
on the muscles,on Pwon Thursday it is obstracted by the
ancestor's spirit, it can be paid to the ancestor's spirit. Wage
Thursday, it is hindered in a big road, Kliwon Thursday,
its cause is the devil in the street and therefore a handful of
rice with raw egg should be offered to it, if it occurs on Umanis
Friday, the patient's heart is bitting, the offerings are then
to be offered in the water spring in the river. If the pain starts
on Paing Friday, it is caused by the devil, the offering
is to be offered in Prajapati (a shrine in, one of
the main temples in a village). If the pain starts on Pwon
Friday, the promise with the grandfather is its cause. If it starts
on Wage Friday, its cause is the devil as an effect of
food. If it occurs on Kliwon Friday , a curse is to be
the cause as a result of disobeying the mother. If it occurs on
Umanis Friday, parents' advice should be obeyed. If it
occurs on Paing Saturday, it is obstructed in a big road,and
the purifying ceremony with white duck is to be carried out. If
it occurs on Pwon Saturday, it is caused by the ancestors,and
when it occurs on Wage Saturday, the patient suffers from
rheumatics. If it occurs on Kliwon saturday,its cause is
the environment, for which the ceremony is to be carried out on
the balai pegat (a traditional building). This is the characteristic
of a person inviting a shaman, pay attention to [5b] The behaviour when
he/she is coming . if he/she comes by rubbing his/her hair, she/he
is possessed by the ancestor's spirit,for which the offerings
to be offered consists of fried things. If he/she comes by rubbing
the eyes, the sickness is caused by the fairy of white water lily,
the ceremony for which consists of black offering with grang
asem (certain type of the Balinese curry). If she/he comes
by rubbing the nose, the cause of the sickness is the parents'
behaviour, the ceremony consists of the offering containing suci
pitre porridge. If she/he comes by rubbing the mouth, there
is a promise with the ancestors that should have been fulfilled
with the ceremony. If he/she comes by rubbing the chin, he/she
is disturbed by things in the river, the offering to be offered
consists of 3 white chickens and money. If he/she comes by rubbing
the arm, there is a promise to offer belt and to use it , Bhuta
Siwa Agni (name of a bad deity) causes the sickness, the ceremony
to be carried out consists of the offerings containing chicken,
9 pieces of money, pepe vegetable (pepe=a certain type
of a tree leaf normally used as vegetable) , lak-lak to
be mixed with blood. If he/she comes by rubbing the hand, the
god causes the sickness and the offering to be offered consists
of black chicken, a complete tumpeng suci (rice in a shape
of a small cone used for suci /certain type of offering),and when
it is offered, Hyang Wisnu Kala (name of a deity) should
be mentioned. If she/he comes by rubbing the stomach, the offering
to be offered consists of grilled chicken, complete tumpeng
sari , if he/she goes home without looking backward, the sickness
is caused by the god, the ceremony should be carried out on Pasah
day. If he/she comes by rubbing the back , the death occurs, if
he/she comes by tying both hands at the back, this indicates that
the death is coming [6a] If he/she comes by
rubbing the shoulder, Hyang Smara (name of a deity) causes
the sickness, and the offering to be offered consists of chicken
which is bought and complete tumpeng sari . If he comes
by rubbing the calf, the ancestor causes the sickness, the offering
to be offered consists of grilled chicken, complete tumpeng
sari , completed with two sujang and the offering is
to be placed in the temple. If he/she comes by rubbing the seat,
since a bad place or yard can cause the pain, the neutralizer
is iron saw-dust and offerings with white and yellow chickens
are to be placed in the temple. If he comes in meditating behaviour,
the pain is caused by the ancestor, the ceremony consisting of
the offering with pork mince obtained with the price of 500 should
be held, and fulfilling the promise should be uttered.then,
if the illness starts on Umanis, the cause of the pain is Bhatara
Brahma (another name of God) , the ceremony to be carried
out consists of offerings all in red, red chicken with the size
of a bird, and then the patient is to be given a medicine.if the
pain starts on Pwon , the cause of the illness is Bhatara
Mahadewa (another name of God), the offering to be offered
consists of hot porridge, liligundi (Vitex trifolia L.)
herb and seven slices of ginger. If it starts on Wage ,
the cause of the illness is Bhatara Siwa (another name of God),
and the offering to be offered [6b] consists of white and
yellow cone shaped rice with fried side dish, and the medicine
consists of the following ingredients: dadap (Erythria variegata
L.) leaf , coconut, djambu (Eugenia aquea barm. F.)
( a kind of fruit) which is fallen from the tree, sulasih (Ocimum
bacilicum L.), fennel to be used as powder. If it starts on
kajeng Umanis , Pamali hyang causes the illness,
if it starts on Kajeng Paing the cause is the ancestor.
If it starts on Kajeng Pon , it is caused by the curse
of the ancestor, the ancestor needs a temple, and purifying ceremony.
If it starts on Kajeng Kaliwon , don't wait till 5 days
since the effect will be worse. It also happens if it starts on
sapta wara , Sunday, the cause of the illness is human.
On Monday the pain occurs on the sexual part , on Tuesday it is
caused by someone practising the black magic, on Wednesday it
is caused by poison. If it occurs on Thursday , the house causes
the illness,and on Wednesday, the cause is human. If it occurs
on Saturday , the house is haunted by kala graha dngen bhuta
kala (name of a bad spirit), if the illness starts on Umanis
Sunday , the offering to be offered consisting of white chicken
with yellow legs, and complete tumpeng sari are to be placed
in the temple, when putting the offering the name of the spirit
is to be uttered. If the illness starts on Pon Sunday [7a] the patient suffers
from mental illness, the offering to be offered consists of grilled
white chicken, rice in four colours, alcoholic drink to be placed
in a coconut shell ,this offering is to be used as a payment and
the name Sanghyang Mahadewi Kala should be uttered.
If the illness starts on Wage Sunday, a member of the family
causes the illness , it is against the tabu , and the offering
to be offered consists of white and black chicken, complete
tumpeng sari , and the Hyang Wisnu Kala should
be uttered. If the pain starts on Kaliwon Sunday , lembab
is the cause of the illness, the offerings to be offered consists
of white chicken, complete tumpeng sari , 3 eggs,and Shanghyang
Puyum is to be uttered while offering it. The followings are
the indications of a dying man: the teeth are dirty, the hair
stands stiff ,the nose is crooked , the ears wrinkle, the mouth
is drying, the penis/vagina is covered with mildew, the eyes are
cross, the back seems to be lifted up while sleeping, the hands
move, the legs produce liquid, and the chest seems concave and
bumpy. [7b] This is the medication
guidance to be known, it should be carefully and accurately and
not carelessly practised. It is difficult to apply the kala
kali with the occurrence and relief of the pain, since it
is in accordance with Triwara, Saptawara , and don't forget
to remember the coming of tatakson (taksu). 6 packets of
rice wraped in coconut leaf, boiled green pease, a coconut shell
of palm wine, 1 kg of rice, 225 silver, cotton, 1 coconut, an
egg, 1 kg of sugar, betel leaf, fruits, sticky rice, black rice,
they are all in kojong ( container in a cone shape made
of coconut leaf ). This is the guidance for those who want to
practise medical treatment. All the indications should be remembered.
This is the pain on bile which causes indigestion. The medicine
to be used consists of the following ingredients: tangguli
gending leaf, onion, fennel to be mixed with salt, cold water
accompanied with the charming mantra : Ranini pajalangati,
Kaka, Kipajalang arah, hayu ring sogot . the medicine is to
be drunk and the offering consisting of raw pork with the price
of 25 coin, completed with rice with the recital of such mantra
charm: [8a] Ra nini Paksi Kaja,
ayu gri lawang, muncul pulung umbah ambuh, pulung alad-alid, pulung
ambeh, pulung pnek the place of the pain is on the power,
its neutralizer consists of enough spices and arrack to be drunk
and the offering consist of enough chicken eggs, onion, old ginger
and green peas ,young coconut juice, Bhatara Sita (name
of a Deity) is meditating on the south, pulung ganda maya,and
pulung suksmu appear on the right, it makes the sight blur,
it affects the brain. Its neutraliser includes the following ingredients:
steamed salt and onion to be dropped into the eyes. Ranini
Bhatari Siwi Sakti (name of a goddess), is meditating in front
of the temple, Pulung slab, pulung tuli appear, the neutraliser
consists of ; bobohan ireng leaf, onion and bitter ginger,
masui , arracks to be dropped into the ears. Ranini
Bhatari ri Kedap (name of a goddess), is meditating
in the kitchen, pulung kukus and pulung orab-orab
appear, the location of the pain is in the chest, its neutraliser
consists of old curcuma and red onion of which the amount is the
same, to be drunk without breathing. [8b] The offering to be
offered consists of sate sanyum , calon sanyum, getih
paporot, pencok kasturi , coriander seed, 3 pnek
( cone shaped rice) , sabeng bungkak, Bhatari Wastu
is meditating facing the world, Pulung alap alap appears,
the pain is in the ears, the neutralizer consists of; lelengan
pusus adadema to be dropped onto the eyes, and the offering
to be offered is wiwos pajagalan which consists of all
the preparation related to penek, bradene pinggalan , and
Bhatari Canda Pinggala is meditating and pulung
hite, pulung awrawal and pulung tan bali appear,
the source of the pain is on the stomach, it is a gnawing kind
of pain,for which neutralizing medicine includes ingredients consisting
of; the flower of pepe , nagasari to be drunk. Bhatari
Kala Cakra is meditating on the right, pulung dara
, pulung gana resi, pulung kekenca, jugil bunga , and pulung
tuju appear, the neutralizing medicine consists of the following
ingredients; gegirang pule , katumahan air is to
be sprayed , and the complete offerings are to be offered. Nini
Bhatari Rupakan is meditating facing the temple, pulung
kambung appears, the source of the pain is on the leg and
the neutralizer consists of; onion, ginger, iron sawdust, arrack
,to be drunk and rubbed softly [9a] On the wrist. Bhatari
Amangkurat is meditating in the middle of the yard, pulung
angendhana, pulung ameng-ameng, pulung rben appear, the
pain doesn't have certain location. The neutralizer consists of;
the stem of coconut leaf and the offering consist of a set of
rice, bilanga blood, onion and ginger and readily eaten
rice. Bhatara sira sangapkik, bhatara sira sangayu , are
meditating in the cemetery for children in the border of pabajang
, on Tegal Malakang, pulung sanga rupa, pulung bang,
pulung ireng, pulung saliwah, pulung ijo, pulung ckal , pulung
mow , and pulung tuntun appear, the pain occurs in
the whole body, the neutralizing medicine consists of the skin
of dedap tree and tangi tree, papayam bulungan
, lelupa honey, old tamarind to be mixed and ground softly
and to be drunk. [9b] Bhatara Durgga Dngen
is meditating, pulung gaba pati, pulung glap and pulung
angepi appear, the source of the pain is is where the face
is washed, the neutralizer consists of; salt and the offering
consists of cambra tutukan, pajagalan blood, enough
rice, a bowl of vegetable, and palm wine. The following is half
fainted disease. The indication is that the patient looks healthy,
the location of the pain is not on the stomach, this is called
asrep , the patient should be powdered with the powder
consisting of rice field water, upu, namasi asram, mok gurit
, denying gringen, pape upu, kayu puh pai . Its
medicine includes the ingredients consisting of; the skin of bengkel
, ginger, fennel, garlic, dringo , and its charming mantra
is similar to the previous one: on the concave of Mokan Taluh
which causes the pain is to be dropped with the bark of bangyang
and the bark of bengkel and the magic formula : Ong
kacubung puceng, angararengda gunning, tengahing sagara, kur

of the medicine consist of; tampak lima leaf, garlic, dringo,
bangle , fennel, various types of tree bark such as: kayu
pait, tuus-tuus, panduh, damuh , tunu tingkih , onion
fennel with the charming mantra is similar to the previous one.
The following is the medicine for the symptom of madness, or talkative
illness, the ingredients of the medicine consists of Alpina Galanga,
Kaempferia Galanga, bangle , turmeric, all of which are
sliced ,and various kinds of spices such as; sari , Aegle
Marmelos Correa, muju , coriander, the stem of clove, sire
meda , pepper ,to be sprayed on the pit of the stomach three
times each. If the patient feels weak, give that medicine with
the magic formula; aduh bilah setan isa ajim, bismilah ni rohim,
lah sluh lah, sama leminni, sari isuk, jangan kaul, lamunta gulunaku
salembar, aku tumpakaken kaul, brakta lailalaya lami (All the
bad spirit, on behalf of God, you are not to disturb and I shall
vow). The medicine for losing energy includes the following
ingredients: the root of tri kancau to be finely ground and diluted.
[10b] The medicine for painful
body includes the ingredients consisting of sasuruh leaf,
Alpina Galanga, garlic, new grass, salt to be ground and mixed
to be drunk. For coughing medicine, the ingredient consists of
masui , Carum Roxburghianum Benth, Kaempferia Galanga,
gamongan , garlic and dringo to be sprayed on the
chest of the patient. The ingredient of the medicine for high
temperature consists of sandal-wood, various types of spices,
candlenut, grated coconut which is squeezed. The medicine for
somewhat high temperature includes the ingredient consisting of
: raw leaf of Puri Cangkaruk tree to be deluted with water
and rubbed as powder. As for the medicine for high temperature,
the ingredient consists of : lembungan katimahan of which
the water is to be taken, black sugar cane, tain yeh ,
all to be drunk. The medicine for continued cough includes the
ingredient consisting of curcuma, the leaf of kemoning (Murraya
paniculata L.) tree to be ground, kawak tamarind, Carrum
copticum benth, carum burghianum benth, to be squeezed and drunk.
The medicine for ras rheumatic and internal bleeding includes
the ingredient consisting of big spinach leaf, tanak tamarind,
new black chicken egg, all to be mixed with coconut milk and 21
seeds of pepper and to be drunk. [11a] the medicine for brahma
feeling ( rasa brahma ) includes the ingredient consisting
of : a handful of sembung (Blumea belsamifera L.) leaf,
curcuma, kalap , lungid , coriander all to be steamed
and refined at night accompanied with the recitation of the following
magic formula: pukulun sira sanghyang rambut gunung, gengsi
rasa kangan, sariranta kasoran, luhur tan kaluhuran, wisesa tan
kawisesan, atatamban sembung, kalapa babakan pule temu haja enam
prangka, limpa bengka, pusuh bengka, paru ktan sabang mawayah
lambung aptiis tiis (My God Rambut Gunung (name of a God), it
is hoped that you will cure the diseases of liver, heart, lung
and stomach). The medicine for feeling includes the ingredients
consisting of the leaf of bun takedan, coconut oil, sweet buwat,
wanggo sari to be drunk with the recitation of the following magic
formula : ang gni angabar-abar tngahing sagara, muruh makutar,
kataran, anyub rasa ring jro weteng, bun takedan ambanana rasa
bengang amdal sira ri sor ri luhur, kedep siddhi mandhi mantranku
(The fire flares up in the middle of the sea, flares up brightly
shining the stomach. It is hoped that my magic formula will be
invulnerable). The medicine for feeling (ngrasa) including
the ingredient consisting of , ilalang (Allomanda cathartica
L.)/grass, the root of glagah (Sacharrum Spontaneum L.),
coconut oil, ambu (Young palm leaf), sari lungid, anju,jawnang,
wangto sari, all tobe mixed with spices and to be drunk accompanied
with the recitation of : om dana lima ri papa, tka ayu purnna
jati (It is hoped that the complete glory will cure you) [11b] sariranta siddha kjer
waras, ep. The medicine for urgent dereba include the ingredient
consisting of the following formula; cika kawacangka, ika kai
genjat, jangan dika sandhi mantranku (That's my shirt. That's
what I strongly run after i order to recover. I hope that my magic
formula is invulnerable). The medicine for serious sickness
with the following indication: the water flows in a circle and
all in black the magic formula is as follows : ong lu
warwdar , and this is uttered three times. The medicine for
serious illness includes the ingredients such as ; squeezed rice
to be mixed with lime powder and grilled on a bright day, then
mixed with coconut milk to be chewed and accompanied with the
recitation of the following magic charm ; lipur ring atinmu
waras (Entertain yourself and be cured) . The medicine for
dry cough includes the ingredient consisting of; three slices
of Alpina Galanga and salt to be mixed and chewed with the core
of Kaempferia Galanga, raw salt, and to be eaten. The medicine
for serious swollen stomach including the ingredient consisting
of; lempuyang , red onion and fennel to be sprayed. The
medicine for serious swollen stomach consists of white saliva
with the charming mantra ; om hulun saking sabrang, panambut
kita abuh tanpa sangkan, wala api idu putih, tatamnamu jroh par
waras . This needs more attention for the patient who has
just recovered from mental illness, if the patient has stiff pain
on the stomach, [12a] It presses the midriff,
this is called tiwang busung . Its herbal medicinal consists
of sumanggi gunung , tamarind, boiled water, the scrapings
of kelor (moringa oleifera juss) bark, liligundi (vitex

get gripped, this is called tiwang dngen , the herbal medicine
consists of liligundi (vitex trifolia L.) leaf, old turmeric,
nutmeg powder, bangle (zingiber cassummunar roxb.), gamongan
(zingiber sp. L.), vinegar, old cotton, lungid, nutmeg,
bitter ginger and if the pain is not relieved, the rest of the
herbal medicine is to be mixed with precipitated sandal wood water
and linglang orange, to be used as powder, rubbed on his/her
head. His /her midriff is to be sprayed with the rest of the herbal
medicine added with tamarind and oil and mixed with red saliva
(the saliva produced by chewing betel leaf). If the part of the
pain somewhat smells and gets swollen, the patient is [12b] Unable to speak,
her/his legs are painful and he/she feels uncertain, it is called
tiwang bantang ketungan , the herbal medicine consists
of sandal wood, orange juice, salt to be mixed with kitchen charcoal,
burnt Alpina Galanga and onion to be added with little rice to
be sprayed on the neck and chest. The powder for his/her legs
consists of; old turmeric, lime, lemon juice and red saliva. If
the pain is on the navel and gnawing pain on the pit of the stomach
and the patient feels restless, this is called tiwang lomba-lomba
, the herbal medicine consists of Alpina Galanga juice, coconut
juice, palm sugar, the root of old kaktus, red rice and Coriander,
which are to be sprayed on the navel. If the pain is like being
rubbed down and there is a gnaw in the navel, groaning, and the
hands bend, this is called tiwang wlut . The medicine consists
of the root, leaf and bark of liligundi (vitex trifolia), bangle
(cassummunar ginger), gamongan (zingiber sp.), coriander,
musi , nutmeg, tamarind, and salt. The herbal medicine
to be applied on the navel consists of ginger, Kaempferia Galanga,
to be mixed with candlenut and onion and the tip of chilli to
be ground on Morinda Citrifolia leaf, [13a] and to be rubbed with
oil. If there is a gnaw in the whole stomach and the patient grins,
this is called tiwang bragenyjeng . Its herbal medicine
consists of bangle (cassummunar ginger), nutmeg, musi powder,
coriander, orange juice, and salt to be mixed with kitchen charcoal.
If the pain is inside the stomach, contaminated with dirt and
the patient groans, this is called tiwang lesung , its
herbal medicine consists of ; the bark of tenulun, the bark of
frangipani tree, to be added with various types of spices, gagambiran
, orange juice, salt, isen kapur, sticky rice, the skin of lumpang
, wood, gempong canging (a kind of tree) which is to be sprayed
on the pain. If the gnaw moves to the navel, it is called tiwang
bragenjongan , and the hands are active, its medicine consists
of ; sembung (Blumea balsamifera), sulasih (ocinum gratissimum),
miana cmeng , which are still with their leaves, onion, fennel
and sticky rice to be sprayed on the whole stomach. Its herbal
medicine consists of the skin of frangipani tree, turmeric, coriander,
musi and Alpina Galanga. If the patient shivers from the
pit of the stomach up to the back and shoulder, the flesh [13b] is sore and restless,
this is called tiwang grapong , its herbal medicine consists
of ; the root, leaf, and the bark of paya puwuh (memordica
charantia), the root of liligundi (vitex trifolia),
gamongan (zingiber sp.), old turmeric and the powder of
clove stem, nutmeg orange juice, salt, all types of yellow flowers,
isen kapur , coriander, musi Alpina Galanga which
are to be sprayed on the stomach and the pain. The powder of inborn
disease consists of the bark, the root and the leaf of kowang
padang lepas (a kind of grass), coriander, musi and
sticky rice. If the patient suffers from malaria and his/her hair
falls with the gagged nose, this is called tiwang gramong illness
, and its herbal medicine consists of the leaf of sembung rambat
(mikania micranta), burnt onion added with little lime, a
blue thread which is about 340 centimetres long, little rice,
after being mixed, added with boiled water and then to be drunk.
If the patient feels that his/her legs are heavy , he/she has
problems in urinating day and night is called tiwang sembar
banyu . Its herbal medicine consists of [14a] The leaf, root, and
stem of paya puwuh (memordica charantia) and kasinem, sulasih
miyik (ocimum gratissimum), sepet - sepet, and red
rice. The reminder is to be used as powder and the navel is sprayed
with burned turmeric and pabwan rubbish. If he/she sleeps
well with and snors with his/her legs and hands move, this is
called tuwang grit. Its powder consists of the leaf of
the yellow madori , red rice, nutmeg, garlic, dringo
, and vinegar. If the pain is on the legs and the patient cannot
move, it is called tumpar sanggar illness, caused by someone
who practises black magic,and the powder to be rubbed consists
of all varieties of tubers, all varieties of spices to be ground,
and mulung (cocos nucifera) coconut milk (of which the
waste is to be kept) to be heated in a frying pan of which the
surface is written as follows; if the oil has been cooked, keep
cold in a bottle to be used as rubbing oil for various types of
disease caused by loss of energy. The waste of coconut can be
used as powder and then all the magic formula of tiwang and the
magic formula related to it. [14b] are recited to initiate
the treatment. The following is the neutralising medicine for
nerve illness. The ingredients include; sebaha nyem, rematik,
empun krayapan though it is inside the stomach all
can be used. This medicine is called jaya makarab . The
ingredients of the medicine consist various of types of spices
such as tabya bun (piper retrofractum vahl.) and
fried onion, isen cekab (a kind of alpinia galanga), the
slein of tamarind, the root of white madura tree, the bark of
frangipani stem,tingulun, the bark of gampini wood, a handful
of sesamun indicum, all to be mixed and fried with coconut oil
processed in the frying pan on which a large frying pan is inscribed.
If the oil has been cooked, the following magic formula is uttered
3 times each; mang bay sumbrak urip , ung wisnu sumrak
urip, sabhuwana kabeh urip, padha jumneng jati pageh (My Deity
of Bayu, the creator of life (3 times), My Deity of Wisnu, the
creator of life (3 times). It is hoped that all lives in the world
take a firm stand (3 times). [15a] if the pain is moves
about and the patient has cramp and grins, the disease he/she
suffers from is called tiwang sumbilang , the rubbing medicine
consists of; tamarind, salt, lime, coconut oil, red saliva, all
to be rubbed on the body and the herbal medicine consists of ;
paya puwuh (memordica charantia), the root, leaf and stem
of the turmeric, gamongan (zingiber sp.), Kaempferia Galanga,
inggu , coriander, musi , nutmeg to be mixed with
orange juice, salt and kitchen charcoal. The waste of the herbal
medicine is to be mixed with the outer part of the bark of a book
tree and tuju tree, garlic, dringo , vinegar, to be used
as powder. If the patient gets better, uncooked drinking herbal
medicine, vinegar and the waste can be sprayed. If the patient
feels very painful, uneasy and spits frequently the disease he/she
suffers from is called tiwang bura wayan , the herbal medicine
consists of seven slices of isen kapur (a kind of alpinia galaga
stuntz), five slices of bangle (zingiber purpureum roxb),
5 seeds of pepper, vinegar to be drunk and the waste to be sprayed
on the pit of the stomach. [15b] If the pain is everywhere,
the disease the patient suffers from is called tiwang banyu
mekundang , the herbal medicine includes various tubers, added
with spices, the outer part of the bark of gagambiran ,
tamarind and salt which are to be pressed using heated fragments
of a broken cup . The waste is to be mixed with tingulun (a
kind of tree), liligundi (vitex trifolia linn) leaf,
lemon leaf, tabia bun (piper retrofractum vahl.) leaf to
be used for spraying the pain. If the pain is somewhat relieved,
the powder is made of the following ingredients; the outer part
of the bark of book tangulun (a kind of tree), awar-awar,
kayu tuju (a kind of tree), and the roots are to be
taken and mixed with garlic, dringo, tengeh , bitter ginger,
vinegar. If the pain is unrelieved, the powder is made of kayu
pupug, kayu tulak, patih kalah, turmeric, Alpina Galanga,
Kaempferia Galanga, gamongan , nutmeg, vinegar. If the
patient feels that his/her arms are very painful and go to sleep
and that the shoulders and fingers are feel like being burnt,
the disease he/she suffers from is called tiwang dangap-dangap.
The powder is made of bitter ginger, tengeh , pepper, paci-paci
, orange juice. If the patient gets a sharp pain in his/her joints
and grins day and night, the disease he/she suffers from is called
tiwang sija , the powder [16a] consists of turmeric,
gamongan (zingiber sp.), Kaempferia Galanga, ginger, nutmeg, various
spices, clove stem, sandalwood water, orange juice, to be mixed
with coconut oil. The herbal medicine consists of; paya puwuh
(memordica charantia), the root, stem and leaf of Kaempferia
Galanga, gamongan , Alpina Galanga, sampar wantu
, coriander, musi , nutmeg, sticky rice, orange juice to
be added with salt and kitchen charcoal, the waste is to be used
as the powder which is added with the leaf and stem of tabia
bun (piper retrofractum vahl.), garlic, dringo , and
vinegar. If the patient cries day and night because of the pain
on all parts of his/her body,it is called tiwang balwang,
and the patient is restless. The powder consists of ancak (ficus
rumphii bl.), tangulun, the outer part of the bark of kayu
tuju root, the outer part of the bark of book, tengeh,
masui powder, nutmeg, garlic, dringo and vinegar. If
the pain occurs in the whole body of the patient and the pit of
the stomach is like lifted up, is called tiwang tudwan
. The herbal medicine consists of paya puwuh , the
leaf, root and stem of gamongan, turmeric, coriander, musi
, nutmeg, linglang orange juice [16b] and salt which are
to be mixed with kitchen charcoal. The powder to be sprayed on
the pain is made of; the outer part of the bark of kem (a kind
of fruit tree) and its leaf, coriander, isen kapur
, red rice. The following is panuwed , the ingredients
of the medicine include seven coconut shell charcoals, which are
to be softly ground and used as powder with the following magic
formula : ang, papan ta bapanta mementa, bapanta babun ta di,
aku panuwed dimasai, tka tis tka tis palektuk, siddhi mantranku
(My father, mother and servant. I'm the source of the sins. I
hope that the magic formula is powerful). The medicine for
dry lips. The ingredient includes bulung dawa (a kind of sea
weed) heated with coconut milk. The medicine for dry lipsincludes
ingredients such as burnt cassava and coconut milk which are to
be drunk. The medicine for stomach-acheincludes ingredients such
as young bambu shoot, kayu tawa , old turmeric,
onion and fennel, the reminder of the thached roof which has been
rotten to be sprayed on the pain. The medicine for bleeding vagina
includes the ingredients consisting of; well steamed white Morinda
Citrifolia, a cup of onion-fennel juice, added with a cup of honey
to be drunk. The powder consists of ;betel fruit, onion and fennel.
The medicine for stiff pit of the stomach includes the ingredients
[17a] such as; betel fruit,
tis curcuma, cmeng carum Roxburghianum Benth to be dropped in
to the patient's nose. The medicine for beri-beri includes the
following ingredients; the outer part of the bark of wangkal
tree, Alpina Galanga, vinegar to be used as powder. The medicine
for beri-beri includes the ingredients such as; ketket bongol,
garlic, dringo and vinegar to be used as powder. The medicine
for beri-beri the ingredients consisting of haruk leaf,
three slices of Alpina Galanga, sari kuning , coconut milk,
to be drunk. The medicine for internal wound with bleeding urine
includes the ingredients such as sour Averrhoa Bilimbi, to be
made into salad, arrack, sugar to be taken. The herbal medicine
to be sprayed on to the stomach includes the root of padang
cekuh , water produced by soaked rice, salt fried without
oil. The medicine to be dropped consists of the following ingredients;
young yellow coconut of which the flesh is very soft to be mixed
with fennel stem, the stem of labu paketan , myana cmeng,
lilang orange, sandalwood water, jenggi , sliced palm sugar
to be boiled together with raw bamboo. The medicine for vagina
problems and kidney stone includes the ingredients such as young
mulung coconut of which the tree directs towards north-east,
added with boiled water of sulasih mrik and sulasih
yeh (both are kinds of ocimum bacilium) leaves, three [17b] pieces of dedap
leaf, myana cmeng and young canging leaf, young
gatep leaf, sari kuning to be boiled with raw bamboo,
to be drunk. The herbal medicine to be sprayed below the stomach,
includes the following ingredients; yellow canging leaf,
bunut leaf, sari kuning , the albumen of wild chicken
eggs, arrack which is to be drunk. The medicine for the navel
consists of the following ingredients; tobacco charcoal, red saliva
which is to be drunk. The medicine for feeling of worry includes
the ingredients such as kotoran sek-sek (a kind of bee),
the core of gamongan , garlic and dringo to be ground
for the powder. The medicine for a sharp kind of pain below the
navel, includes the ingredients consisting of; the root
of tuwung polo (a kind of solanum), curcuma, the root, stem, and
leaf of pucuk suren (corypha utan lamh), tobacco leaf,
red saliva, to be used as the powder. The medicine for stomach-ache
which occurs irregularly includes ingredients such as Alpina Galanga,
turmeric, salt, vinegar which are to be drunk. The herbal medicine
for the navel consists of; the outer part of the bark of champaca
(michelia champaca) tree, garlic, dringo , lime water,
to be applied on the navel and then the medicine [18a] To be sprayed consisting
of the following ingredients; tabia bun (piper retrofractum
vahl) leaf, betel leaf, bangle (zingiber cassummunar roxb.),
gamongan (zingiber sp.), Alpina Galanga, turmeric, all are
to be grated and to be divided, some is to be softly ground and
added with spices, the rest is inscribed with rajah pamali
, the salt is to be fried without oil and sprayed on the pain.
If the patient feels uneasy, produces phlegm,and his/her pit of
the stomach gets stiff and sneezes, the illness is caused by upas
ngusum and the medicine consists of the following ingredients;
the root of lipas grass, burnt onion, fennel, red rice. If the
patient loses energy and feels sore around the stomach , the illness
is caused by upas pantara , the herbal medicine consists
of paspasan leaf, fennel, red rice, five pieces of buangit
root. If the patient feels bad accompanied with diarrhoea continuously,
vomits and drowses, the illness is caused by upas rabung
, the herbal medicine includes 21 tips of ilalang (thatch),
onion, fennel to be ground and added with boiled water. If he/she
always feels worried, his/her body feels hot and dry day and night,
accompanied with sneezing, his/her body feels [18b] painful, the illness
is caused by upas karang sudukan , the ingredients of the
medicine consist of; the stem and the flowers of onion and fennel,
bone to be ground and poured with hot water, after getting cold
it is to be mixed with sweet palm juice and then squeezed and
refined to be drunk. If the patient shivers and is weak and feels
bad up to the pit of the stomach, cannot vomit, loses appetite,
the illness is caused by upas kebo dadaka. The herbal medicine
consists of the following ingredients; the root, leaf and stem
of karoya, onion, fennel, pula sari, sticky rice to be ground
and added with hot water. If the patient feels hot , has stiff
muscles and loses energy, his/her voice is very weak, the illness
is caused by upas tang-tang wun , the herbal medicine consists
of; the root, leaf and stem of karoya , onion, fennel,
pula sari, sticky rice to be poured with hot water and ground.
If the arms and legs feel hot, the body feels cold, the stomach
[19a] is stiff and the patient
cannot vomit, this is caused by upas balabur . The herbal
medicine consists of; newly ripe green banana and various grated
tubers, masui powder, all to be mixed, squeezed, and added
with orange juice, salt, and then boiled, when it is boiled, it
is to be drunk and the waste can be used for spraying the pain.
If the patient loses energy, always gets sleepy and always wants
to eat sweet and sour food, the illness is caused by upas kasmaran
. If the nerve illness is accompanied with beri-beri, the herbal
medicine consists of; water produced by soaking sticky rice, burnt
onion, fennel which are to be added with the pollen of the flower,
and then squeezed and cleaned using water which is then to be
drunk. The following is the powder of which the ingredients are
similar to the previous ones, added with softly ground garlic
and perfume. If the patient's pleghm is felt up to the chest and
neck and he/she is breathless, it is caused by krikan gangsa,
the herbal medicine consists of old turmeric juice, young lumut
batu , to be mixed with a little duck fat, then filtered before
being drunk. If the patient's anus bleeds, [19b] This is caused by
upas warangan . The ingredients of the medicine and traditional
herbal medicine consist of the leaf of kayu tangi , red
rice, tamarind, salt mixed with charcoal, and some soil from four
places which are considered to be holy. The waste is used as powder.
When very hot blood comes out which is caused by upas rasa,
the ingredients of the medicine are the mixture of gadung
coconut, well-baked sugar added with any bitter taste, and dry
worm faeces. All of these must be ground, squeezed and then drunk
at last. The ingredients of the medicine for itchy eyes are the
root of plant, one grain of pepper, fenel, and salt. All of these
have to be ground and sprayed to the patient's eyes. There is
another medicine for itchy eyes, which consists of three slices
of ginger root, garlic, and dringo . Powder these ingredients
on the patient's eyes. The medicine for red eyes consists of the
following ingredients : the essence of ginger, the milk of mother's
breasts who has a baby with no teeth yet, cold water stored copper
shell,and together with some offerings to be offered in the family
temple which is called sanggah kamulan. All of these must
be ground. [20a] Watery and swollen
eyes. The medicine for such a therapy consists of the essence
of tamarind , masui (massoia aromatica pecc), and uku
salt. Again, all of these must be ground. Another medicine for
the same illness consists of sangga langit , white pomegranate,
kalembak kasturi . Spray all of these to the patient's
eyes. The medicine for asthmatic or out of breath illness consists
of padang lepas (a kind of grass), masui (massoia aromatica
pecc), baked onion, fresh coconut oil. These all have to be
drunk. Another medicine for asthmatic consists of padang lepas
(a kind of grass), old tumeric, and fennel onion. These all have
to be sprayed on the chest. The medicine for asthmatic with hoarse
voice include the ingredients such as kamoning (murraya paniculata)
leaf, wales leaf, old tumeric, and fried coriander without
any oil. All of these have to be ground and drunk. The medicine
for the waist ache ( half of the waist feels sore). The following
ingredients are needed : some outer part of the bark of ancak
(ficus rumphii BL) tree, incense, and honey. These all have
to be ground and rubbed on the waist. The medicine for stiff waist
when moving forward or backward includes the ingredients such
as old curcuma and nutmeg. These all must be ground and used for
powder. [20b] The medicine for ear
disease like being injected includes the ingredients : a coconut
flower, some kinds of spices like gegambiran (uncaria gambir
) mixed with sari lungid , sandalwood water to be sprayed
on the patient's ears. The medicine for the so called paling
ringsek illness consists of pungut leaf , isen kapur
(calcium ginger root), and coriander. All of these must be sprayed.
When the stomach is stiff, the heart beats, the head is dizzy,
followed by powerlessness, both the legs and arms are getting
cold, the ingredients of the medicine includes the outer part
of the bark of badung tree mixed with thick tamarind water,
liligundi (vitek tripolia) tree completed with its fruit,
three grains of pepper, orange juice, and vinegar. These all must
be baked and made into a kind of drink. When there are swellings
in some parts of the body the ingredients of medicine include
: lime powder added with juice of small lemon to be rubbed. The
medicine for stomachache causing bad feeling up to the heart includes
the ingredients such as the top part of pule (alstona scholaris),
curcuma, baked onion, some water, gajih sticky rice, and
all of these are used to produce a kind of drink. The medicine
for itchiness consists of isen kapur (calcium ginger root)
and sida wayah (a kind of shrub). All of these must be
ground and used for powder. [21a] Another medicine for
itchiness includes lumba-lumba leaf (dolphin leaf), garlic,
and dringo. These all must be fried which is then to be rubbed.
Still another medicine for itchiness includes the ingredients
such as the root of kayu nasi (a kind of tree), sari
kuning , and ginten cemeng (a kind of nigella sativa linn).
All of these have to be ground and dropped into the nostrils.
The following medicine is for the itchy swelling on some parts
of the body. The ingredients are young bamboo trees, efficacious
Erythrina Varegita, sandalwood scrub, and some lime powder. These
all have to be ground for powder. When the knee feels sore the
ingredients for the medicine consist of parasite pomegranate,
calcium ginger root, onion, and some white sugar. These all have
to be ground and then must be put into the fire ash and to be
used as powder. The medicine for pain on the legs includes the
following ingredients : the outer part of the bark of tangulun
tree, garlic, dringo, and some arrack. All of these have to
be ground and used as powder. [21b] The medicine for the
broken soles includes the ingredients such as powder, fish paste,
and orange juice. All of these have to be rubbed. The medicine
for serious illness, and worms of any kind includes : pungut
(streblus asper) leaf growing with direction to the river,
basa leaf which grows on the bank of a river, undis
bean, kaempferia galanga, and fragrant rice. All of these are
to be used as powder. For a sudden swelling the ingredients of
the medicine consist of kem root, the tip outer part of
seven betel nuts, the tip outer part of seven manggis,
and one egg shell. All of these are used as powder. For the cleanser
three buwu (a kind of corypha utan lamh) are used tied
with three black threads. The jamu (traditional herbal
medicine) consists of ground garlic mixed with some water. The
ingredients of the medicine for reumathic relapsing at night consist
of sticky rice and curcuma. They are to be sprayed. The medicine
for the baby who always sleeps and reumathic which relapses at
night are the outer part of soft kusambi (schleichera oleosa
merr) tree, ginger root, curcuma, corriander, and seven grains
of tamarind. All of these must be boiled and then rubbed. The
medicine for cramp and kesemutan (the condition of kesemutan
is quite similar to cramp) includes the ingredients such as the
outer part of moringa pterygosperma, the outer part of pule
(alstona scholaris R. Br.), awar-awar root, teter
root ( awar-awar and teter are kinds of shrub),
terung kripit root (the root of nightshade/plant of genus
solanum), red rice, grilled onion, bangle (a kind of curcuma
with bad smell, bitter and hot taste), ginger, spices, tabia
bun (hard dark chili), garlic, dringo , and some vinegar.
All of these have to be used as powder for the patient's legs.
[22a] The medicine for cramp
includes the following ingredients such as the outer part of kusambi,
kacemcem (Spondias Duleis Forst), the outer part of juwet
(eugenia cummini L.), the root of white meduri (calotropis
gigantea dryand), the outer part of purut lemon, sintuk
(Cinnamomum), masui (massoia aromatica Becc.), garlic,
dringo, and some arrack. All of these must be used as powder.
We pray to the Mighty God with the following charm with the intention
of getting His blessing so there is no obstacle : Om Saraswati
patastra ya namah . This is called usada sari
as the most exalted and highest medication. The most exalted medication
is called dharma usada, kalimosada , and the substance
is usada sari . It is briefly said that only a few people
know the medication based on usada sari . Sanghyang
Guru Reka , Sanghyang Brahma , Sanghyang Wisnu,
Sanghyang Iswara, and Sanghyang Tiga (different name for
God), are said to be there in the medication of usada sari.
This should be widely spread among human beings and the universe.Three
healer are also mentioned to be there, They are said to have the
authority and... [22b] magic power in kalimosada
and dharma usada medication. Because they are the cause
of the suffering people who are also of three kinds, they are
male, female, and bisexual. The condition is sometimes hot and
cold, normal or warm., and the Deities who make the medication
are : Sanghyang Brahma, Sanghyang Wisnu, who at once influence
the pain, energy, voice and thought. The substance of kalimosada
recovery is highly exalted. The following is the implementation
according to the rule of sastra sanga, katibebing genta pinara
pitu, Buddha kacapi. It must be understood seriously, and
we must concentrate, manage the breath, conduct the breath circulation
on human beings and the deities understand the charm effectiveness
when conducting the recovery. The acceptance of fee or gift is
a common/proper/natural behaviour because it is already understood
what is sastra sanga, patikelaning genta pinara pitu, Buddha
kacapi, and kalimosada jatya. If someone wants to know seriously
how to conduct the recovery according to the rule, here is the
exalted way. [23a] First be aware of
the healers in our body. Tatakson, the helaer who resides
close to the hips is called Undhaka. Dudukan is
the female healer. The male healer stays in the liver, and bisexual
healer, who is called Sanghyang sira kul putih, stays in
the ubun-ubun (crown of the head). The following three
healer who play a very important role are the healer of ourselves
as the blessing of Sanghyang Wisnu through Kasiapa Sidhi
with the competence of gathering 12 elements of black power. Sanghyang
Brahma, Bhagawan Mrecu Kundha are the couriers. It is mentioned
that bhuta wirsa creates the diseases called bhuta kala
dngen, bhuta ajil, bhuta sliwah, bhuta ludira, bhuta ari-ari
. All of these diseases are contributed to human beings but all
of them are close as friends. God Brahma stays side by side with
God Wisnu, and the truth of God Siwa which misterious characteristic.
All of these misterious characteristics function as medicine for
human beings, recorvering all kinds of [23b] diseases in line with
the purpose of Hyang Iswara to realize the only success
of God Brahma, God Wisnu and God Siwa. When the body cramps, the
hair is curly, the eye lash overlaps each other, and the patient
cries; this means that he/she suffers from upas mamri .
The medicine consists of ingredients such asherbal medicine of
lumut batu (a kind of moss), grilled onion, pulasari
(Alyxia stellata), and fennel. They are mixed with holy water
and then have to be drunk. When the patient has got a headache
, feels warm and cold, and nothing wrong with the stomach, it
means that he/she is suffering from upas tapas tamporo
. The medicine consists of the outer part of white turi
(sesbania grandifloria) , grilled fennel onion, some moss
taken from tempayan (large earthen water-container) , and
grilled coconut. All of these must be drunk. The medicine for
pimples and itchiness ingredients such as nine grains of pepper,
three pieces of betel leaves with meeting muscles, and three pieces
of bangle (zingiber cassummunar roxb). [24a] The magic formula
is Om kjar daging kjar and have to be uttered three times.
The medicine for eye disease includes the ingredients such as
the young ginger root, montong kasa, montong kuning, gamongan
, temu tis (curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb), sari kuning,
remek daging , and cemeng (nigella sativa linn). All
of these must be grilled, before being measured and then used
as powder. It is also mixed with lemon leaf, fragrant zingiber,
and some rice. All of these must be fried without using any oil.
The medicine for getting the bad smelling faeces out consist of
the root of saba banana, curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.,
and thick tamarind liquid. All of these must be boiled, filtered,
drunk and rubbed on the waist. The medicine for getting the blood
out from the buttock. The ingredients consist of grilled pucuk
gogang (Hibiscus Rosa sinensis) and the dirt of water. All
of these must be drunk. The other medicine for the same illness
includes of the water of black rice mixed with fennel onion, and
have to be drunk. The ingredients of the powder consist of isep
nanah, isep getih , fennel onion, gamongan gede (zingiber
sp.), grilled coconut, and grilled onion. The medicine of
the same illness consists of the outer part of the bark grilled
young tamarind, grilled fennel onion. All of these are used as
powder. The other medicine consists of garlic, white turi
(sesbania grandifloria), grilled thick tamarind liquid, [24b] grilled onion, and
rice. The medicine for hemorrhoids includes the ingredients such
as the crab straddle, the root, the leaf and the stem of climbing
plants, grilled coconut, sari lungid, sada wayah
. All of these must be grilled and drunk. Again the medicine for
hemorrhoids includes the ingredients such as sembung leaf
(Blumea balsamifera), the outer part of the bark of pule (alstonia
scholaris) tree, grilled coconut, sari lungid , coriander,
and musi . All of these have to be drunk. The other ingredients
for the same illness consist of bengkel leaf and fennel.
These also have to be drunk. There are still six kinds of medicine
with some ingredients respectively. The first one consists of
undis shell (a kind of bean), three top parts of bangle
, three slices of garlic and dringo. All of these are used as
powder. The next medicine includes the ingredients such as the
root of canangium odoratum, the root of dawusa , sembung
(blumea balsamifera) leaf, grilled onion, and the water of
gajih sticky rice. All of these have to be drunk. The following
medicine includes the ingredients such as lublub dapdap tis
(Erythrina varegita), the water of white hibiscus rosa-sinensis,
the water of gajih sticky rice, and grilled onion. All
of these have to be drunk. The other medicine includes the ingredients
such as pancar sona leaf, thick coconut milk. All of these
must be roasted, squeezed which is at last to be drunk. The second
last ingredients are : nasi-nasi root, the water of gajih
sticky rice. All of these have to be drunk. The last ingredients
are : the outer part of the bark of sulastri tree, the
bark of nagasari tree, the outer part of the bark of white
kalampwak tree, bunanipi , and spices. All of these
have [25a] to be drunk. The medicine
for the crying baby at night includes the ingredients such as
: sembung leaf ( Blumea balsamifera, it is well known leaf
of a shrub used as medicine ). This has includes to be smeared
on the soft part of the head. The magic formula is Om kupukulunyaha
. The medicine for broken breath includes the ingredients such
are : padang lepas (a kind of grass), male candle nut,
fennel. All of these have to be sprayed. The medicine for mental
illness includes the ingredients such are : the kuwuk type
of Blumea balsamifera, dringo, garlic, and the urine of a small
boy. All of these have to be dropped into the eyes, nose, and
the ears. The magic formula is Om aho haeh, ai ai, syawya sruha
nama swaha. The medicine for the white corpuscles includes
the ingredients such as: sugar and fish paste. These all have
to be drunk. The medicine for blahan (a kind of headache)
consists of crab, ginger-root, pepper. All of these have to be
roasted and then eaten. But it is not to be drunk using some water.
The medicine consists of the leaf of puwuh papaya on which
to some amount of money (250) is to be stuck. The magic formula
is kokokan matinggil sisin pagah lebur tka geseng (may
be the bird "belekok" staying in the fence be destroyed
and extinct). It must be uttered three times. The preventive
medicine consists of paspasan leaf, and bama bang
. These have to be blended and rubbed. The magic formula is Om
mpu watek dewata paum, bhatara hyang guru nora ditu, [25b] Sing tka pada
urung (my priest and deities hold a meeting but Deity of Guru
is not there and the Deities who have come decide not to join
the meeting). If there is somebody with unclear birth-mark
on his/her waist and covered with the cloth this means that person
has great chance to be free from diseases, except because of the
age. That kind of person is named wong prakosaning dusta
and he is in such as great danger that a lot of people pay attention
to him/her. The following is the characteristic signal and the
inborn ability of a person. If the palm of the hand is seen clearly
and the lines of the palm go down, this is named wongayusa
purna . This kind of person has good characteristic, great
influence, uncertain happiness, great hobby selling things, and
is also wealthy. If there is a person with a birth-mark which
is named wulan smekdi nginging tan sih . This means that
he has great influence and to be loved by a lot of people. [26a] If there is a person
with typical sign on the cheeks and also with a birth-mark, either
male or female he or she is called reres angupa desa .
The signs mean efficacy whether for female or male, and he/she
will be happy until overage. Next is a person with clear lines
on the palms of the hand and black point on the nails. If this
kind of person lives long, her/his body will stand firm, and there
are not any diseases coming into his/her house. She/He is named
ratu angalapaken pandhung . If there is a birth
mark in the area of his/her head, exactly on the temples, she/he
is called baingin smaputin mneng . She/He will die soon
she/he will not live long because she/he is the reincarnation
of a God, so he is very exalted. A person with a birth mark on
the soft part of his head is called wong jampana . Her/His
hobby can not be overcome. If there are two birth marks she/he
is called reka guru . If there are birth marks on both
of his/her ears he/she is called dulang mreta . His talent
is trading. [26b] If there is a person
with whirl on the palms of his/her hands he/she is called sadhana
amukti pakewuh . This kind of person is very remarkable. What
he does always brings good result and has the hope of being wealthy,
and also there is a belief that he/she will be successful. If
there is a person with whirl between his/her eyebrows (in the
middle of his/her forehead) she/he likes to have many children
and what she/he cultivates will grow well. And then when there
is person with black birth marks on the hips he/she is called
doyan anta . A person with short legs has great influence.
He/She is clever and wise and he/she is called sajagat.
A person whose one of his/her hands is longer than the other [27a] is called ambar
bhawana . Generally she/he has lot of friends and brings happiness
to her/his family. A person with physical defect on her/his chest
is called randha prakasa . She/He has no fear against the
enemy. A person with physical defect on one of her/his testicles
is called wintang angindit wulan. This kind of person if
female has many children and wives, lives long and what he cultivates
will grow well. A person with strange/peculiar/particular body
is called wong lamaya . Usually he/she is lazy, eats a
lot, a drunkard, and likes contentment. When there is a baby born
with circular umbilical on the neck and the hands, we can take
the umbilical to be sun-bathed until dry. It can be used for stealing,
as belt or for binding something. She/He can be a qualified juggler/conjurer,
and she/he will be able to appear or disappear and the enemy could
not see him/her. The umbilical can be used in the war. That is
the function of umbilical. [27b] If the baby is still
alive and male, he is not able to be competed. He will be very
brave, has a lot of ideas and with plentiful of food and drink.
A person with birthmarks on both of his/her ears is called sekar
gading . This kind of person is very charismatic, makes a
lot of friends and charitable. A person with a birthmark under
or inside the ears is called kalu manik . His/her characteristics
are hard working, easily robbed, easily gets stained and makes
others jealous easily. A male who is born on [28a] Minggu Umanis (a
particular sunday) is called turu sisih . He will die
on his middle age. A male who is born on Minggu Paing (another
particular sunday) is called wtu mungkul . He will
live long. A person who is born on Minggu Pon (another sunday)
will stand suffering, his wife or her husband will die earlier.
A male who is born on Sunday will live long with his wife. A male
who is born on Minggu Kliwon (another sunday) will die
because of falling down after climbing twat tree. He is
called ron runtuh . A male who is born on Senin Umanis
(a particular monday) is called gunung tangis . His
parents usually pass away when he is still a child. A male who
is born on Senin Paing (another particular monday) is called
gunung kutula . Generally his relatives pass away. A male
who is born on Senin Pon (another particular monday) is
called gunung pincat . There is a tendency that his wife
will die before giving birth to a baby. [28b] A male who is born
on Senin Wage is called gunung Blah . If a female,
her death is caused by giving birth to a baby. If a male, his
death results from of broken heart. A male who is born on Senin
kliwon (another particular monday) is called pancing sekar
. His death is caused by being left by his wife. A male who is
born on Selasa Umanis (another particular tuesday) is called
Tlaga asat and if he is born on Selasa Paing (another
particular tuesday) he is called tlaga kingking . He
has stomachache. If a female is born on Selasa Pon she
is called putri emas . She likes adventure. If a person
is born on Selasa Kliwon (another particular tuesday) he/she
is called swah angurubin gusih . His/her birth brings happiness
and likes climbing mountains. A person who is born on Rebo
Umanis (a particular wednesday) is called gagak kapa
, and always has stomachache and headache. Both of the illnesses
often relapse. If a person is born on Rebo Pahing (another
particular wednesday) will live long with happiness. A person
who is born on Rebo Pon (another wednesday) is called paksi
a mengkuk tluh . If he/she lives long he/she will find happines
[29a] during his/her life.
A person who is born on Rebo Wage (another particular wednesday)
although he is male his appearance is like a woman. He is soft
and likes fragrance. He is also clever, wise, and will be disappointed
because of someone's behavior. There is a tendency that his wife
will leave him and he will suffer from broken heart. This kind
of man is called tlaga apit pancoran . A person who is
born on Rebo Kliwon (another particular wednesday) he is
called giru sandhi . She/He will be very succesful in therapeutics,
interested in speech and lots of people love him. A person who
is born on Kamis Umanis (a particular thursday) always
likes giving advices, hardworking and will be remembered with
love during his/her life. If a person is born on Kamis Paing
whether the day is considered good or bad is called langkup
pinentang . He/she is often disappointed and his/her condition
is common/ordinary [29b] A person who is born
on Kamis Pon (another particular thursday) is called Ulan
Tumanggul and if female, she is often left by her husband.
A person who is born on Kamis Wage is called gni angin
. If female, she often gives birth to baby but suffers. A person
who is born on Kamis Kliwon is called gni laya ,
and if she/he can stand she/he is often struck by lightning. A
person who is born on Jumat Umanis is called wayang
dalu and his/her death because of suicide. A person who is
born on Jumat Paing (another particular friday) is called
gni anglayang . If male, he is hot and his wife will die
earlier. A person who is born on Jumat Pon (another particular
friday) is called ulan sanding wintang . Her/His death
will result from murder. A person who is born on Jumat Wage
(another particular friday) is called pandan sategal
. He/she has a lot of children, no debt and people take pity on
him/her. A person who is born on Jumat kliwon (another particular
friday) is called dngen mangap . He/she often suffers
from mental illness. A person who is born on Sabtu Umanis (a
particular saturday) is called [30a] tlaga tinjo pancuran
. He/she has a lot of children and ideas. A person who is born
on Sabtu Paing is called jaran runtuh and always
fails. A person who is born on Sabtu Pon (another particular
saturday) if female is very difficult to give birth to babies
and is called gajah kurung . A person who is born on Sabtu
Wage (another particular saturday) will die in a war and is
called sasih amangan rau . A person who is born on Sabtu
Kliwon (another paticular saturday) is called Paksi putih
. It takes a long time for him/her to get married. The following
is about a woman whose uterus is not hairy. She is called gunung
gundul . If a famous or unfamous wealthy man takes her to
be his wife he will be confused everytime. If an important man
takes her as his wife his charisma will become less. This is because
the [30b] gunung gundul
incarnates/appears as a human being. Because of the God's curse
she becomes useless, jobless, with bad behavior, likes to make
and share love. If he is a man and his penis is not hairy he is
called gseng katunwan . This kind of man is said to be
hot, humble/mean/poor, as other people is forbidden to make love
with him. If there is a woman with black and white uterus she
is called gni angin. She often makes men subject to her
because of she is incarnation tumbal pre . If there is
a woman with a birth mark on her uterus she is called tembuku
bosok . She is very much not profitable, always asks for something
and has neither rules nor politeness. [31a] A person with a birthmark
among his/her fingers is called klewah. She/He does not
like making contribution and likes asking for something. A person
with a birth mark on his/her head is called madaging bulu uler
amangan sekar . She/He likes eating, visiting, and telling
lies. A person with a birthmark on his penis is called yipanjrah
. He is often childless and extravagant. Next is the medicine
for small-pox prevention. The ingredients are marangi to
be sprayed with garlic and dringo. The magic formula is Ong
rah aku rah hara tan harepta ngko dadi nanah , madadi sing
rah manik, waras (It is hoped that the blood will not become suppuration
and that the blood will become jewel). The medicine for diarrhoea
and difficulty in urinating smoothly includes the ingredients
such as seven pieces of susuruh lanang leaf and three small
amount of delicate salt. All of these must be milled and rubbed
on the penis. The medicine for stomach and difficulty in urinating
well includes the ingredients such as the hard part of porridge,
and [31b] old tamarind. The
magic formula is Ong kisuh da ah li suh banyu, empehan siddhi
mantranku (It is hoped that urinating will not a problem and that
my magic formula be powerful). All of these are drunk by using
the left hand. The medicine for swollen stomach includes the ingredients
such as old curcuma, zingiber, garlic, and coconut juice. All
of these must be drunk. Here is another medicine for swollen stomach.
The ingredients include red shrimpaste, betel, jinten (nigella
sativa linn). All of these must be ground and used as powder.
The medicine for swollen-belly, diarrhoea, and difficulty in urinating
includes the ingredients such as wari bang , curcuma liquid,
old tamarind, and coconut sticky juice. All of these must be drunk.
The medicine for swollen-belly and bad feeling includes the traditional
ingredients such as the outer part of the bark of sesbania grandifloria,
a grain of tamarind, fennel, water, and the fibre of young
mulung (cocos nucifera) coconut. The medicine for swellen
stomach includes the ingredients such as myana, the leaf of sangka
tree, tis (curcuma). The magic formula is kadang kudung,
badasa bung, busuk bung, ang kita katas kabeh, tka rerep (It is
hoped that what has resulted in swollen stomach be destroyed and
extinct). The medicine for cataract includes the ingredient
such as : saliva. The magic formula is : ong kabayan mati dening
idu putih, mulih kita ke hin memenmu nto apang mulih, ong kawaya
kawayi tka pikas pakalekas (It is hoped that the white saliva
will kill the sickness and that the sickness will get back to
its mother's vagina). This must be uttered three times. [32a] The medicine for swollen
stomach includes the ingredients such as myana cmeng ,
the dirt of plant pest. The magic formula is ong bhatara brahma
ring jro wteng, alambuga po weteng, peteng gunah mtu banyu waras
anambanim larane syanu, tka waras (My God Bhatara Brahma, residing
in the stomach, it is hoped that the patient's disease be recovered),
and this must be utterred three times. The medicine for swollen
stomach includes the ingredients such as surian (a kind
of tree), root, leaf, stem, onion, fennel, and some clean water.
The medicine for rheumatism includes the ingredients such as softly
ground panjaitan as powder and alyxia stellata to be sprayed.
The medicine for man-made rheumatism and raja bhuta illness
includes the ingredients such as : the outer part of bark of bila
(ferenia limonia saringle) tree, garlic, dringo, the outer
part of the bark of kayu putih (melaleuca leucadendson),
the nest of ants on their hole, the bottom part of uku-uku
(Ocimum sanctum LINN). All of these are used for powdering the
umbilical. And the traditional herbal medicine consist of the
outer part of the bark of kaliasem , vinegar, salt, and
all of these must be fried without oil. The medicine for swollen
wound with worms includes the ingredients such as three slices
of garlic, three slices of gamongan (zingiber sp.), and
some salt. All of these must be chewn and then smeared. The medicine
for the person who is getting thinner includes the ingredients
such as nine grains of black rice added with the water of lublub
katimahan and these have to be drunk. [32b] The medicine for seriously
swollen wound includes the ingredients such as curcuma purpurascens
BI, tamarind, and incense. All of these must be softly ground
and used as powder. The medicine for a sudden swelling includes
big gamongan (zingiber sp.) which has to be ground, mixed
with coconut milk and then must be drunk. The medicine for the
sour saliva which is caused after having some betel leaves can
be neutralized by drinking some water. The medicine if feeling
hot in the stomach includes the ingredients such as softly scrubbed
sandalwood, fennel, thick coconut liquid. All of these have to
be drunk. The medicine for fever includes sumanggi gunung
(Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides) mixed with thick coconut liquid and
have to be drunk. The following are some good days for moving
the patient according to the pancawara ( pancawara is
the counting day in Hindu belief). The bad and good effects have
to be remembered. Umanis , the holy water is at the east,
sunya at the south, baya at the north, laba
at the west, pati in the centre/middle. Paing, pati
is at the east, tirtha at the south, sunya at the
west, baya in the middle. Pon, baya is at the east,
pati at the south, tirtha at the west, sunya
at the north, laba in the middle. Wage, laba
is at the east, baya is at the south, pati is at
the west, tirtha is at the north, sunya is in the
middle. [33a] Kaliwon, sunya
is at the east, laba is at the south, baya is at
the west, tirtha is at the north, pati is in the
midddle. It is the same when we want to move a patient. If we
want to move a patient and the pancawara is Umanis
with east direction, this means that there will be recorvery,
with south direction means that there will be recorvery, with
west direction means that there will be pain, with north direction
means that there will also be pain. Paing, with east direction
means that there will be death, with south direction means that
there will be recovery. Pon, with east direction means
that there will be pain, with north direction means that there
will be recovery. Wage, with east direction means that
there will be recovery, with south direction means that there
will be recovery, with west direction means that there will be
pain, with north direction means there will be death. This is
the Javanese prediction and have to be identified based on saptawara,
and urip sastra and if someone is sick, the letters are taken....
[33b] the neptu is counted
and when the letters are a 9, na 2, ca 6,
ra 8, ka 7, da 3, ta , sa 10,
wa 6, la 5, pa 6, 5, ma 3, nga
6, ba 2, ja 3, ya 7, nya , uriping
sapta wara , ra 5, ca 4, a 3, bu
7, wre 8, su 6, sa 9. The following is the
good and bad of the day with its stars.. If it is Sunday and the
star left is only one, this means death, two stars left means
recovery, three stars left the recovery takes time. If it is Tuesday,
and the stars are three, when it is only one left the recovery
will take long time, if there are two stars left the patient will
die, and if there are three stars left he/she will recover. If
the day is Wednesday with three stars and one is left this means
the patient will recover, if there are two left the recovery takes
time or could be dead, if there are three left the patient will
recover. Thursday with three stars. If the star left is only one
this means he/she will die, if there are two left he/she will
be normal, if there are three stars left the patient will not
recover or could be dead. Friday with three stars. If it is only
one left the patient's recovery will take time, if there are three
left he/she will die. Saturday with three stars. If it is only
one left the patient will recover, if there are two left the recovery
will take a long time and if there are three stars left she/he
will die. [34a] This is the prediction
of life and death. We should consider the value of the day direction
when predict, the urip sastra of the patient. For example,
first take the letters of the patient's name one by one, count
the letters like ha na ca ra ka. It must be explained at
the beginning according to sapta wara and panca wara
. For example : Minggu Umanis is for the soul of the ancestor
to come from heaven, Minggu Paing is for the soul of the
ancestor who comes from south east, Minggu Pon is for the
demon comes from the east and west, Minggu Wage is for
the deity who comes from north east, Minggu Kaliwon is
for the deity who comes from home. Senin Umanis is for
the deity who comes from north east, Senin Paing is for
the deity who comes from the north and west. Senin Pon
is for dngen who comes from south west. The following is
the energizer. The ingredients consist of a handful of gajih
sticky rice water, sugar, and lungid. All of these are to
be put on a black place and then drunk. [34b] The magic formula
is, ih sanghyang urip, idep urip, maka manike syanu urip, hyang
padha urip, jumneng, maurip tka urip (My Deity of life, it is
hoped that you will be his/her jewel). This must be uttered
three times. The medicine for abortion consist of the outer part
of the bark of kutat , the leaf of kasinen , and
salt mixed with charcoal. Its water has to be drunk and here is
the magic formula : Om kama urip, manik urip, geti urip, banyu
urip, aja sira geger untu ring prethiwi, jeg jumneng jro wetenge
syanu, tka jeg (My living passion, the seed of life, living blood,
living water, it is hoped that you will not be born from her stomach).
This is also uttered three times. The following is what is called
pangeger . The ingredients of the medicine consist of clean
water which is placed in the black place. Put into it some palm
leaves with the following inscription _____.. A magic formula
should be recited for this and drunk. The magic formula is Om
manjing metu sira, tututin kahanta sekawah (You come out and come
in follow your older sibling). This must be uttered three
times. Next is the smooth process in giving birth to a baby. The
ingredient is a coconut-shell filled with some drinking water.
The magic formula is om kumaca kumadih, ung ang, enggang tanah,
luggang langit, enggangang sarirane syanu, enggang (My Kumaca
Kumadih, it is hoped that the earth and her body will be spaced).
This is uttered three times. The ingredients for preventing a
birth are very simple with the following magic formula: ih
nini sarab kaki sarab, yansarab Brahma, Wisnu, Iswara, sarab I
rare cerik, [35a] yan tan sarab Brahma,
Wisnu, Iswara, tan sarab I rare cenik, apan I rare cenik anak
ira hyang Ibu pertiwi, anakira sanghyang ulan, lah waras (It is
hoped that the baby which belongs to Hyang Ibu Pertiwi (the earth)
be cured). The offeringsfor the baby's caretaker includes
a handful of rice placed in the plangkiran (a small shrine
placed on the wall inside the house used when praying). The magic
formula is: ih kaki ingah-inguh, kaki ngempu rarene, aja wehana
wani salwiring mabayu, angrenge abeseka anak ratu anggen susuuk
agung, tka saak, muksa ilang kedep, siddhi mantranku (The baby's
caretaker, it is hoped that whatever disturbs the baby be destroyed
and disappear and that the magic formula be powerful). This
must be uttered three times. The offerings are some porosan
(a kind of offerings) burried in the rubbish. The magic formula
is ih bhuta ari-ari, empu rare dini, ih bhuta, ruddhira empu
rarene dini, aja pepeka aja lali, poma, poma, poma (My Bhuta Ari-Ari
(the abdomen's caretaker), it is hoped that you are not to disturb
the baby). The following is the offering for welcoming the
baby (when a woman is giving birth to a baby). [35b] The ingredient consists
of the kitchen key to be put in the coconut shell with some water
in it. The magic formula is: ih kuncang kancing, lusakna kancing
wesi, bungkah gedrug kusuma, mtu kang ari-ari, tiba ring lemah,
empune nyamane dini, poma,poma, poma (My key, it is hoped that
you open the earth for the abdomen to take care of the baby).
The water must be drunk and the rest must be poured on the hips.
The following is the medicine for frequent abortion. This is called
pangancing manik, pangancing kama . For marriage this can
be used, and for the next month pamungkah can be conducted.
The difficulty in having children makes the house quiet. The pangancing
magic formula is: om tutup kancing bhuwana alah, bhuwana
kling, tutupana gdong alah was papas, dara sariranesyanu,
tka pepet (My key, it is hoped that the lock the house tightly).
This is uttered three times. The ingredient of pangancing consist
of some water to be put in a coconut-shell and the rest is used
for cleaning after urinating.The magic formula is: ong mang
alah ung mang kancing, kukancing alah, kumancingan dening mu amat,
